Perching ones may lack the drama of the bird in flight, but this bird appealed to me nonetheless. Something about the framing effect of the branches I guess. The shot is a little opportune so I didn’t have my large prime. These shots were taken with the 70-200/2.8 and a 1.4x TC. I was also using a carbon-fibre monopod for extra stability. The monopod is a new addition to my kit and is proving handy with with the heavier and long telephotos. (The 70-200/2.8 by itself still weighs around 1.4 kg)

The last shot shows that I’m getting closer to the bird.
