About

I am a Marine Ecologist currently working on coastal marine ecosystems around the South Island of New Zealand, Australia and the Ross Sea, Antarctica. My job gives me a great balance of adventurous field work and white coat laboratory action. Ecology is a challenging science, as it bridges so many other science disciplines – biology, chemistry, physics, geology… but the great thing is that I get to find out all about these other disciplines, and spend a lot of time trying to understand the different science ‘languages’. I love the challenge of communicating science in a way that is free of jargon and hopefully entertaining.

Science Life includes my musings on natural science issues that I think matter and people will want to know about. I also talk about what it is like to be a young(ish) scientist working in New Zealand. Life<->Science, Science<->Life… get it?!….
