It's A Long Way From Amphioxus
I was reading Alison’s latest post, old fossils on a spoil heap, and on reading ’Amphioxus (Branchiostoma) – and us.’ I thought ‘cue It’s A Long Way From Amphioxus’.
Seeing as it’s Friday, you can hear it for yourself:

There’s an annotated version of the lyrics on flounder.com. (Where else would you find it but on a marine biology website.)
It’s sweetly performed, but I personally would love to see a version accompanied with a nice video.

Oh, very nice – I wish I’d thought of that! (I agree a video would be even better.)
Cheeky of me, huh 🙂
I have to admit that line you wrote just struck a chord.
Now I just have to convince a sci. comm. student to tackle making a video for it…
It seems the video has been pulled (thanks David), but if you’re keen you can buy a copy of Sam Hinton singing the tune from his album Sam Hinton Sings the Song of Men from iTunes for ($NZ 1.79) or from
Smithsonian Folkways website.
