With the overindulgence that often comes with the holiday season many people look for quick and easy ways to feel healthier. Although the best way to do this is to eat healthily, exercise and get enough sleep that is far too much effort. Instead it is much easier to buy into various products that are purported to make use healthier, quicker.
A common term used these days is detox – there are detox diets, detox foods, detox machines and most recently I have discovered detox foot pads. These pads, filled with “natural” materials are put on the bottom of one’s feet overnight so that they can draw out the toxins! Amazing! They are scientifically “proven” according to the following clip:
Convinced? After all it talks about “clinical studies” and “evidence” of reduced cholesterol levels. Perhaps we should look at another examination of these products:
Most advertisements claim that these pads can draw out toxins including heavy metals through ones feet and that the resulting dark colour and smell in the morning is from the toxins. Fascinating how the same effect comes from simply adding water.
